The October Club Philanthropy Group Pledges Support for CPT

The City-based philanthropy group, The October Club has formally announced The Cure Parkinson’s Trust as the beneficiary charity for their annual fundraising dinner. The announcement was made during an evening reception at the House of Commons hosted by The Rt Hon Sir Edward Garnier QC MP.

Over 200 supporters of The October Club attended the reception held in the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons last night, with speeches from The October Club’s Chairman Mark Pumfrey, Simmi Woodwal, CEO of the children’s charity Honeypot (the beneficiary charity of 2015) and Dr Jon Stamford, The Cure Parkinson's Trust.

“We are incredibly excited about the project to which the funds raised will be supporting. Parkinson’s World will be the global Parkinson’s web resource bringing patients, clinicians, scientists and the Parkinson's community together to work as a team. It is our intention to transform research, clinical trials and the management of Parkinson’s and we believe that this initiative has the potential to put The Cure Parkinson’s Trust out of business!”

“This year we received 60 high quality applications and after considerable analysis and due diligence were delighted to select The Cure Parkinson’s Trust as our charity partner.” said Mark Pumfrey, Chairman of The October Club. “The project we will fund will make an enormous difference to the research being undertaken to find a cure for this widespread condition and we are very excited by it as it is classic October Club territory.”
